The state of Massachusetts has issued an order mandating that all MA residents over the age of two must wear some kind of face-covering while in public (both public indoors and outdoors). This order has been in effect since May 6, 2020. Face coverings include cloth masks, bandanas, scarves - really anything that reasonably covers the mouth and nose while allowing the wearer to breathe. Note that cloth masks should not be used by young children or anyone who has difficulty breathing. By this order, businesses are allowed to decline entry to individuals who are not wearing masks. Not wearing a mask in public may result in a civil fine of up to $300.
