Mayor Marty Walsh has announced that the city of Boston is aware that the pandemic could last 8 months to a year, and that the city is preparing for that possibility. One of the measures that they are taking is through grants provided by the Small Business Relief Fund, which is disbursing $4 million to 1,100 small businesses, 95% of which have fewer than 15 employees. The mayor has stated that as the city continues to monitor the pandemic, they will make more funds available to help individuals whose livelihoods are impacted by social distancing measures.
